PIAGET CELEBRATES THE USPA PIAGET SILVER CUP FINALS

 

(SANTA BARBARA, CA) - Piaget was proud to present the Piaget Silver Cup, the oldest and most prestigious cup awarded in the United States, to the ERG Polo team at the USPA Piaget Silver Cup finals, held for the first time at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet club.

The final match took place Sunday afternoon between Scott Wood’s ERG team and Lucchese polo team and marked the end of the heated two-week tournament. The competition between the two teams was fierce, as players raised their level of play to vie for the coveted cup. Lucchese had a small lead over ERG after the 2^nd chukker, until ERG overran Lucchese with 4 goals in the 3^rd chukker, taking an 8-5 lead into halftime. Local polo player Miguelito Torres was the high scorer of the match, as his explosive sprints down the field lead ERG to 11 goals into the 4^th chukker. It was clear that ERG brought more horses than any other team, giving them an advantage in strength and speed over their opponents. Lucchese remained scoreless well into the 5^th and 6^th chukker. The final score was 16 – 7, and Torres was named MVP of the tournament. Best Playing Pony was Carta Bianca, ridden by Paco De Narvaez and owned by Scott Wood.
