Sal. Oppenheim for the first time team sponsor of the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow

ZURICH, 27. SEPTEMBER 2011

Bank Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. (Switzerland) Ltd. is to be a team sponsor of the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow for the first time. The renowned tournament will take place for the 28th time from 26 to 29 January 2012 on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. The St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow is the world’s most prestigious winter polo tournament of its kind. Some of the best polo players in the world take part, and the event now attracts over 15,000 spectators onto the frozen lake each year. Four high-goal teams battle for the coveted trophy every winter on the ice of Lake St. Moritz. The top-level matches demand concentration, strength, skill, courage and endurance from players and horses alike. The special conditions on snow and the unaccustomed altitude at 1800 metres above sea level demand exceptional performance from horses and riders.

Hanspeter Oes, Chief Executive Officer of Bank Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. (Switzerland) Ltd. said, “We are delighted to be a team sponsor of this first-class event, the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow. Through our involvement at the tournament, we are bringing our enthusiasm for and long association with international polo to Switzerland for the first time.” Sal. Oppenheim Germany has been the main sponsor of the German Polo Masters – Sal. Oppenheim Gold Cup, which takes place on the island of Sylt, since 2006. As a team sponsor of the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow, the Bank Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. (Switzerland) Ltd. is promoting international polo in Switzerland for the first time.
